Day 30 Wrightsville Beach to Holden Beach, NC

Dolphins swam around our boat in the moonlight last night and this morning storms in the distance brought us the most amazing rainbows. We had some wonderful iced coffees at the public docks and met Sedona who brought 5 bags of ice!  If you ever meet someone who has been boating for a while the most amazing thing you can bring is ice and fresh fruit and vegetables (maybe some beverages too). They are the most difficult things to maintain so they are the biggest treasures.

Once boarded we headed to Holden Beach.  The trip was slow moving but beautiful as we passed docks on high stilts and enormous homes along the water.  We had a pretty good tide against us for a bit and thought we might have to stop before Holden Beach but tides turned as they do and we were pushed right towards the Holden Beach Town docks.

While tying up we heard live music down the road and across the canal.  We had some vegan chick’n salad with jackfruit and then headed towards the music.  There was a big open concert just down the road and right in front of it was a sweet shop where they sold real Italian ice.  I got pineapple and coconut and it was amazing.

With desserts in hand we headed to the beach where the tide was so low you could walk for ages.  The sun was going down and the air was cooling off.  John wanted to get some exercise so we walked for a long while.  It turned out to be a great plan because by the time we got back to the concert we had walked off our dessert and John and I had seconds.  I’m not kidding and I don’t regret a bite.  It was that good.
