Morning quickly turned toward afternoon as we got all of the things we needed to get done. Carrie, Michael, and John decided to go on a historic tour of Annapolis and the Naval Academy. It is almost 100° out so I volunteered to stay here and do the laundry in their air-conditioned room.I know that sounds lame but it’s really hot outside and I’m not a huge history buff.
After they left I went to start the laundry and found out there is only one washer and one dryer for the whole Marina community. There was a line. It took a while but I finally got in and started my laundry. Upon returning to check it’s status, I decided to stay in the laundry room while the last of my laundry was spinning because the air conditioning was so cold. When my laundry finished I took it out of the washer but quickly realized that the dryer was full so I took out my book and I waited for the person who had done the laundry before me to come back.
I consider myself a person with a lot of patience but after a half an hour of waiting to put my clothes in the dryer I was getting a little irritated. There is only one washer and one dryer and there are so many other people that might need to do their laundry. This person seemed to me to be incredibly inconsiderate as I had set timers to make sure I would come back in time. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and figured they just forgot.
After 45 minutes I decided to take a look in the dryer to determine whether it was just bedsheets because if it was just bedsheets I was gonna take that stuff out. I had finally had enough! I got off my seat and went over to the dryer in. And you will never believe what I found!
I will give you a hint: it was my husband’s underwear. This may sound salacious to you. You may be concerned about my marriage if someone else is handling my husband’s underclothes. I was, too. It took me a moment to get myself together and realize that I had been waiting 45 minutes for myself to remember that I had clothes in the dryer!
Living on a boat is fun and exciting but also exhausting and my brains obviously needed a recharge. I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the a/c reading. Carrie, Michael, and John got back from their tour of the Naval Academy in late afternoon, overheated but happy they got a chance to see the amazing facility and grounds. We tried to stay cool in the boat as the sun started slipping down but the boat could not keep up with the nearly 100 degree day. We gave up and went into town where Michael, God bless him, found a restaurant with vegan and gluten free options. It was amazing Mexican food and we enjoyed it all while drinking jalapeño margaritas. They were the best I have had by a long shot.
With smiling mouths aflame we went across the street to the comic book shop at Carrie’s behest. I’m so glad we did. As a kid I did not like comic books. My dyslexic brain had difficulty putting the story in order with all the distraction so it was more frustrating than fun. As an adult looking at these amazing masterpieces I wish I had tried a little bit harder. These writers and artists are incredibly talented and the stories are wild. For those who like murder mysteries: delightfully gruesome.
Once our tastebuds settled down we walked to yet another ice cream parlor. Thus one had vegan and gluten free options! We got way too much dessert but it was delicious and it will be days until we are in port again as we make our way down the Chesapeake Bay. With our minds and bellies satiated we made it back to the boat and quickly drifted into sleep.

Pat & I have been to annapolis twice. One of r favorite places.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Annapolis and laughed out loud at the laundry matt story. Loving these blogs! (I really could have commented on every one - but refrained and kept reading 😊) it was a lovely way to spend my Sunday afternoon!
